Go To Bed!

A basic guide to beautiful bedding The bed is the focal point of your bedroom, so make sure it looks attractive and finished. A beautiful bed is not only great for the design of your room, but it will make you feel happier and more relaxed, giving you a better night’s sleep. Here are the main items to consider when designing your bed: 1. Bed Cover: The main thing you see when looking at a bed is the covering. There are several covers to choose from. – Bedspreads A bedspread is a bedcovering that goes down to the floor on at least three sides. Since this covering going to the floor, there is no need for a bedskirt. – Coverlets A coverlet is similar to the bedspread, but it does not go down to the floor. It covers only the area of the box spring. A coverlet is ideal when the bed frame is decorative, or it you want a coordinating bedskirt. – Comforters A comforter is an unstructured covering shaped like a large rectangle when laid flat. Like a coverlet, it does not go down to the floor. It differs from coverlets and bedspreads in that it is normally very thick, with much more fiberfill inside. A comforter is often reversible – decorative on both sides, and is a popular bed covering for cooler climates and winter months. – Duvets A duvet is a large comforter-type bedding product made with polyfill, down, feather and down, or some combination thereof. It is not decorative. The fabrics used to make a duvet are most often high quality casings, similar in look to lining fabrics. A duvet is meant to be covered with a duvet cover that can be removed for laundering or dry cleaning. 2. Bedskirt/Dust Ruffle: A bedskirt, or dust ruffle, is a decorative product that covers the box spring around the bed so that it is never in view. Custom bedskirts are almost always lined, since the lining gives a better appearance to the colors in the fabric and allows the skirt to hang more attractively. The most common styles of bedskirts are: – Gathered Shirring is formed by gathering the fabric horizontally to a dd a full, ruffled effect. – Tailored The tailored-style bedskirt has large flat portions of fabric coupled with inverted pleats. – Box-pleated Box pleats are formed by two folds of fabric that are brought together creating a box-like appearance that appears flat on the front of the bedskirt while adding fullness. 3. Pillows/Pillow Shams: Pillows and pillow shams are a decorative element that adds to the glamour of a custom bedding set. Shams can be simple or embellished. By coordinating all of your bedding elements, you can create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind bed. Good night!
